Pragmatism

"What happens to me when you must go?" means I'm not worth taking a risk for or is it a way for you to show that you care for yourself above all? Who am I kidding? I do well know how practicality outweighs all feelings and regard that fall below the love I sadly still can't forego.

Raincheck

I stop myself from asking you for I fear you would say you'll be busy, or might cancel again on the day. Disappointment might just ruin another Saturday that was supposed to be sunny but has turned wet and grey.

Drought

This downtrodden heart has drowned my emotions in a sea of unshed tears. Eyes like a desert sky burning but now too dry to form rain clouds and cry. Cracked and untilled, this soil yields neither crop nor oil barren, a waste of toil.

Moray

I am a tiny red crustacean on your slick, black and slithering back. A relationship of convenience we have, fading to futility.

Risk

Why tread in shallow waters when you can simply stand up and walk away unmuddied? Find a clear and deeper pool where you can dive, explore and not feel the least bit sordid.
